In October 2009, Five Spices was asked to develop the Holland Lounge for the Business of Design Week (BODW). The most important principals were Creativity and Sustainability.
The concept of Five Spices is based on reuse, and for this reason the Dutch Design Chair chose the FestivalChair as the basis. This was the first time an entire stand, including desks, were built using the cardboard FestivalChair. Five Spices also suggested the Holland Lounge should 'dismantle itself' by allowing all the chairs to be given away. This happened at the end of the BODW andthe Dutch Design Chairs were given away to the very enthusiastic visitors. One large part of the Lounge was then used on the Hong Kong & Shenzhen Biennale, which was the circle and the Dutch Design Chair again was used as FestivalChair.
